State-level cynicism: Mirziyoyevs atone for bloody crimes

On Tuesday, March 17, on the eve of the holy holiday of Eid al-Fitr, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and his daughter Saida visited the Center for Islamic Civilization in Tashkent and took part in an iftar (breaking of the fast), attempting to use their prayers to cover up the traces of their bloody crimes.

This appears particularly cynical in light of Saida Mirziyoyeva’s role, whose involvement in orchestrating the staged assassination attempt on Komil Allamjonov and the murder of Ismoil Jahongirov is widely regarded as an established fact in the public sphere.

Ismoil Jakhongirov was a key witness in the fabricated case of the attempted assassination of Komil Allamjonov — the lover of Saida Mirziyoyeva, the head of the presidential administration.

On the night of February 25–26, 2026, Ismoil Jakhongirov was brutally murdered  in a solitary confinement cell at Correctional Colony No. 13 in the city of Chirchik. As early as February 27, Jakhongirov’s body was hastily buried under tight security by law enforcement — without any forensic examinations or even the slightest attempt to establish the truth. To this day, no government agency has provided an official explanation regarding the sudden death of this young man — a key witness in the “Allamjonov case”.

On January 8 and March 3, the political movement Erkin O’zbekiston published an investigation that explicitly identified the motives behind the crime and named the organizers. The video versions of the materials on the YouTube channel are already approaching 2 million views, despite unprecedented pressure and systematic attempts at censorship.

In any legal system, such accusations against the highest echelons of power require an immediate and public response. However, Saida Mirziyoyeva and Komil Allamjonov, who is listed as a “victim” in the case, prefer to remain silent. Instead, they have mobilized efforts to suppress the information landscape and attempt to remove Erkin O’zbekiston’s investigative materials from the internet. However, despite their efforts, they have not yet succeeded in achieving their desired outcome.

In an attempt to evade accountability, Saida Mirziyoyeva has entered into open confrontation with high-ranking officials of Uzbekistan’s State Security Service (SSS). According to available information, she continues to manipulate the state apparatus, using it as a tool for personal protection and political reprisals.

On 14 March, the Uzbek Ministry of Internal Affairs reported the detention of an employee of Correctional Colony No. 13 in the city of Chirchik. The video footage presented appears to be a hasty and unconvincing attempt to construct an alternative version of events that does not stand up to any scrutiny.

According to sources, Saida Mirziyoyeva is fuelling an inter-agency conflict between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Security Service, attempting to initiate criminal proceedings against State Security Service officers who possess irrefutable evidence of her involvement in both the ‘Allamjonov case’ and the elimination of Ismoil Jakhongirov.

Saida Mirziyoyeva’s mention of “palace intrigues” in an interview with a local blogger today is seen not merely as an observation from the sidelines, but as an indirect admission of her own involvement. It is precisely such intrigues, backed by absolute impunity, that lead to the elimination of witnesses and the destruction of the foundations of justice.

The denouement of this story is inevitable. A system built on fear and lies is unsustainable in the long term. It will either collapse under the weight of its own crimes or be dismantled by society. The only question is what price the country will have to pay for its agony.
