Extrajudicial execution in the holy month

On the night of 25–26 February 2026, during the month sacred to Muslims, the Mirziyoyev regime brutally murdered Ismoil Jakhongirov in a solitary confinement cell at Chirchik Prison No. 13. He had been sentenced to 23 years on trumped-up criminal charges of “attempting to assassinate” against Komil Allamjonov — the lover of Saida Mirziyoyeva, head of the Uzbekistan President’s Administration.

What makes this incident particularly grave is that the despicable Mirziyoyev regime committed its crime during a sacred time, when the value of human life and justice in Islam is emphasised with particular force. Against this backdrop, the incident is perceived as a flagrant disregard not only for human rights, but also for basic moral and religious principles.

Not a single publication, journalist, human rights organisation or civil society activist in Uzbekistan has questioned the official account of events — and this silence speaks louder than any words. Yet the sacred scriptures state: ‘You are commanded to speak the truth, to stand up for what is right, even if it is unpleasant for you.’

Silence and the refusal to ask uncomfortable questions can no longer be justified by caution — this is a conscious betrayal of the principles of truth and justice, which are themselves proclaimed to be the highest values. Behind a screen of hypocritical

piety and ostentatious devotion, people have disregarded the sacred warning: if anyone rejects divine decrees, the Creator will surely bring others—the bold and the steadfast, ready to fight for the truth, fearing neither censure nor the perjured, silent support of hypocrites.

Truly, the Creator does not change people’s circumstances until they change themselves!

Happy Eid al-Fitr!
